The Phoenix Zoo has an event during the month of July called Winter in July. Over twenty tons of fake snow will fall on the zoo and visitors can throw snowballs and watch how the animals enjoy this cold summer treat. You can visit all the normal zoo attractions with the added bonus of snow falling in the middle of summer. For the youngest of your group, the zoo offers a separate play area in the snow just for toddlers. Bring the whole family and enjoy Winter in July.
Civic Space Park – Music Series
During the summer months, visitors and locals alike can enjoy the free music series that takes place every Thursday night at the Civic Space Park in downtown Phoenix. Not only is this event a whole lot of fun, it is also free. Come on down on Thursday nights and hear a live band while you enjoy the summer evening.
Phoenix Public Market
The Phoenix Public Market is a part indoor part open-air market that offers local food and crafts for sale. You can support local vendors while you experience fresh, healthy treats. Visitors will enjoy seeing the beautiful arts and crafts that Arizona natives can create. The crafts for sale include jewelry, hand-made wooden crafts, pillows, clothing, and much more.
Enchanted Island Amusment Park
Enchanted Island Amusement Park is open every weekend evening and has a good selection of rides for the younger visitors and games for the older ones. There are a few rides that adults can ride as well. People of every age enjoy an evening out here as they ride the train, see the amazing view from the Parachute Tower, and play an assortment of arcade games. The snack bar has a variety of food so everyone in the group will find something to satisfy their taste buds.
The Heard Museum in Phoenix shows visitors the rich Native American history of this area. This summer, you can enjoy the museum free on Sundays. Come out and see all the treasures that Native Americans were famous for making. Learn about what their lives were like. You can also shop at the museum shops which feature authentic work from American Indian artists.
