National Geographic Photo Contest

The best annual photo contest for enthusiastic travelers organized by National Geographic is at its 26th edition. During the submission period an impressive number of over 18,000 unbelievably wondrous pictures were sent. The voting period lasts until the end of July, when the winners are going to be announced and given their prizes. Until then, anyone can browse through the best photo galleries and vote for the best photos. So hurry up!

The official prizes were already discussed and include:

– For the 1st prize, a National Geographic trip to Alaska for two, for 8 days

– For the 2nd prize, a National Geographic Photo Workshop for one, in Santa Fe, for 5 days

– For the 3rd prize, a National Geographic Maine windjammer schooner cruise for two, for 6 days

The following 7 merit prize winners are going to be given:

– a $200 gift certificate B&H Photo

– A framed print of merit photo, by the National Geographic Imaging Lab

The Art of Travel Photography course on DVD

For anyone there who’s passioned by either travel or photography, not to mention by both, the aesthetic eye should make you contribute to this ranking by voting the best photographs of the submitted galleries.
